I was in my office when I got the call. I had been sitting in my chair, doing nothing at all, when I got a strange emergency call. Some kid, 12, had apparently been mauled to death in his own bed room. I got in my squad car and rushed right over to his house.
I entered what seemed to be the kid's bedroom. I almost gagged. The edge of his bed was caked in blood, and parts were strewn everywhere in a bloody mess. I put my head down and walked up to the crying mother.
"Do you have any idea what could've happened here, ma'am?"
She wiped away some of her tears. "No."
"Well, don't worry. I'll find whatever criminal did this and put him to justice."
"That's gonna be a bit of a problem, officer." Larry Gorden, the Coroner on this case, stood and looked at me.
"And why's that, Larry?"
"Because...this crime, wasn't committed by a human."
The mother nearly stopped crying. "What"
"I said, this crime was not committed by a human being. No human could have done this. Ma'am, did you hear anything last night?"
She sniffed. "No. Nothing. But, as you should have seen, my door is broken."
"Yes, I can't even begin to wonder what could have done that..."
My Police Radio suddenly came on.
"Attention! Attention, all units! We have a pro-" The other line suddenly went out.
"I have to take this." I said as I pulled on my hat.
I slammed my Squad Cars door and started it up hastily. I sped off looking for where the emergency call had come from. I found it.
It was a small building with shattered windows. Gun shots ran out through the night. I was about to park, when a person flew out of the building, and hit a brick wall behind me. I covered my head and ducked as more shots blasted through the air. I cocked my gun and entered the building. I almost threw up for the second time that day.
Blood was smeared across the wall, with two of our men lying, dead, on the ground. One was firing shots everywhere.
"You fool! Stop that, you're going to shoot someone!"
He turned to me and pointed his gun.
"Hey! What do you think you're doing?!"
"WHERE IS IT?!!?" He yelled. "WHERE DID IT GO!?!" He waved his gun around.
"Where did wha-" I was suddenly slammed against the wall, as something dropped from the ceiling and hit the ground with a horrible crash. It roared and charged at the one standing officer. He rapidly fired shots at it, but to no avail. The thing stopped. He turned to me, his maw dripping with fresh blood. The other officer, now dead, collapsed to the ground. I pointed my gun at it.
"St-STAY BACK!" Not at all fazed, it lumbered up to me. The next, and last, this I remember is a flash of teeth and scales.
